Worked example: one completed cleaning visit
Illustrative CAD amounts, not recommended service rates. The example covers a completed visit and an agreed oven-cleaning extra; tax is left for your actual invoice settings.
| Line item | Quantity × rate | Amount CAD |
|---|---|---|
| Standard cleaning — [address], [service date] | 1 × 150.00 | 150.00 |
| Oven cleaning — agreed extra | 1 × 30.00 | 30.00 |
| Subtotal | 180.00 | |
| Applicable tax | Use your applicable invoice settings | [tax amount] |
| Already paid | Example deposit | 50.00 |
| Balance due | 180.00 + applicable tax − 50.00 | 130.00 + applicable tax |
Invoice fields to fill in
- Unique invoice number, issue date and due date.
- Your business name and contact details; client billing details.
- Service date and address, including separate billing and job addresses where needed.
- Specific line items, quantities, currency and applicable tax details.
- Actual amounts already paid and clear payment instructions.
Keep extra work explicit
Name an approved extra on its own line rather than silently increasing the standard-cleaning price. Only subtract a deposit that was actually received. The invoice is a record of the charge; it is not proof that payment arrived.
Use it in smpl.invoices
Create the invoice, review the totals and due date, then download a PDF or share its client link. Stripe payment links require Invoices Pro and a connected Stripe account. Configure taxes for your own business; this template does not determine your tax obligations.
